HAPPY SUMMER STUDENTS!!!
Quiero desearos un feliz verano , que aprovechéis el tiempo para jugar, estar con los amigos, viajar, etc etc....Y que practiquéis Inglés claro... este ha sido un tiempo corto con vosotros pero lo suficiente para conoceros y saber que sois geniales. Estoy muy contenta de que por fin el colegio va a ser bilingüe, algo que deseabamos muchos y que seguro va a ser una experiencia fantástica para todo el cole, especialmente para los niños de Infantil ,pero para todos los demás también porque el espíritu del Inglés estará presente en todo.

No world body has designated an official day to start each new season, and yet today is widely recognized as the beginning of summer in the northern hemisphere and beginning of winter on the southern half of Earth’s globe. The fact is that Earth’s orbit around the sun – and tilt on its axis – have brought us to a place in space where our world’s northern hemisphere has its time of greatest daylight. The northern hemisphere has its longest day. Meanwhile, today marks the shortest day south of the equator.

NOTA SOBRE LAS LECTURAS
Durante los últimos días hemos comenzado la lectura de libros en Inglés en los cursos de primaria. Excepto para los alumnos de 5º, los libros son recomendados,no obligatorios. De todas formas quería hacer algunas aclaraciones importantes acerca de la lectura en casa:
- Consideramos la lectura una actividad muy importante en los dos idiomas, para ser un hablante competente se deben dominar las cuatro destrezas : escuchar, hablar, leer y escribir y la lectura frecuente es fundamental para poder ser capaz de escribir.
- Las lecturas que he escogido pueden parecer en un principio complicadas , pero debemos tener en cuenta que todas ( salvo la de caperucita) llevan su cd con la grabación . Lo que se trata al comenzar a leer en una lengua extranjera, no es traducir, ni que entiendan palabra por palabra. Se trata de entender el significado general del texto , y más adelante, trabajaremos a nivel más detallado y analítico. Por lo tanto, es aconsejable acompañar al niño en su lectura, poner el cd y ver si son capaces de seguir la grabación mientras leen. De esta manera el texto se hace más abordable para ellos. Pretendemos motivar, no desmoralizar. Debe ser una actividad placentera y al mismo tiempo ofrecer un reto, pero no agobiar, si esto sucediera, deberíamos dejarlo para más adelante.
- En cualquier caso, ante la duda, y dado la diferencia de niveles dentro de un mismo aula, no duden en pedir consejo , en el cole tenemos todos los libros y ellos pueden echar un vistazo antes de comprarlo.
- Los alumnos que opten por leer un libro , que me lo hagan saber para que les haga el seguimiento. Todos los libros tienen sus ejercicios de comprensión al final.
- Poco a poco iremos adquiriendo más colecciones para la biblioteca pues están mostrando mucho interés y esto facilitará el acceso a más libros.
- En las semanas que llevo en el centro he observado el gran interés de los alumnos y de las familias por el Inglés. No son pocos los chavales que tienen un nivel competencial en el idioma por encima del currículum. Con este punto de partida es fundamental proporcionar actividades a los alumnos que supongan un reto cognitivo y les motive.
- En cuanto a los alumnos especiales, las consideraciones son las mismas , pues en el aula están como uno más . Reitero mi disposición para aconsejar en cualquier caso.
Los libros seleccionados están en la parte derecha del blog y ya están encargados . Les animo a compartir esta experiencia con sus hijos y espero que disfruten.

ST PATRICK'S DAY IS COMING...HAVE A NICE WEEKEND!!
Something to know about St. Patrick's Day
St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland and the Irish. He was born about 389 A.D. in Northern Wales, which at that time may have been part of England or Scotland.
Saint Patrick had an adventurous life. He was captured by pirates at the age of 16. The Irish pirates brought him to Ireland to tend the flocks of a chieftain in Ulster. Six years of slavery made him a devoted Christian. He escaped to France and became a monk. In 432, a vision led him to return to Ireland as a missionary bishop. He brought Christianity to Ireland and taught there for 29 years. He used the shamrock, a 3 leaf clover, (Ireland's national flower) to explain the Blessed Trinity. St. Patrick founded 365 churches, baptized over 120,000 people and consecrated 450 bishops.
Many tales sprung up about this popular saint. One of the most popular legends was how he charmed all the snakes of Ireland down to the seashore to be drowned by the water. The only certain writings of St. Patrick's are his Confessions and a letter written to a man named Coroticus (See Tripartite Life of St. Patrick by Stokes and Lives by Todd, Healy, Bury and Lusack.). His Confessions are written in crude Latin.
According to some Irish writings, St. Patrick died on March 17, 461 A.D. The anniversary of his death is celebrated as St. Patrick's Day. It's interesting to note that the shamrock clover flowers around that time of year.
The first official celebration of St. Patrick's Day in the United States occurred in Morristown, New Jersey in 1780. It was authorized by George Washington. Today St. Patrick's Day is celebrated by the Irish as well as many Americans with parades, parties, wearing of green, Irish songs and jigs. People wear green on this day to represent the lushness of Ireland - The Emerald Isle.

Gales (en galés: Cymru; en inglés: Wales) es una nación constituyente del Reino Unido.1 Se ubica al oeste de la isla de Gran Bretaña, donde limita al oriente con Inglaterra y al occidente con los mares de Irlanda y Céltico del Atlántico. Tiene una población total de tres millones de personas y es un país bilingüe, cuyas lenguas oficiales son el galés y el inglés.
Es una de las naciones celtas y posee una identidad cultural propia que se conformó tras la retirada de los romanos de Gran Bretaña.2 La derrota de Llewelyn por Eduardo I en el siglo XIII concluyó la conquista anglonormanda de Gales y significó el comienzo de siglos de ocupación inglesa. El país fue incorporado a Inglaterra mediante el Estatuto de Rhuddlan de 1284 y más tarde por el Acta de Unión de1536, creando la entidad legal hoy conocida como Inglaterra y Gales. En el siglo XIX se desarrolló una política local. En 1955 Cardiff fue elegida capital y en 1999 se creó la Asamblea Nacional de Gales, la cual atiende asuntos internos. Desde el siglo XIX el país ha adquirido una reputación de lugar folclórico, lo cual se debe en parte al renacimiento de la tradición eisteddfod.5 Después de Londres, Cardiff es el mayor centro de comunicaciones del Reino Unido.6
En 1216 Llywelyn el Grande fundó el Principado de Gales. A principios del siglo XV, es decir cien años después de la conquista inglesa, Owain Glyndwr restauró brevemente la independencia definiendo el carácter moderno del país. La Familia Real Británica ha concedido el título de Príncipe de Gales a su heredero al trono

Las canciones son un medio valiosísimo para aprender Inglés , contienen el ritmo propio de la lengua inglesa, con ellas aprendemos vocabulario, fonética y gramática sin darnos cuenta. Además son un oportunidad de expresión individual y/o grupal que promueve el trabajo en equipo. La música es expresión , juego, arte, la música es VIDA , la música....amansa a las fieras.....Os recomiendo a todos buscar videos que tengan subtítulos y que probéis a cantarlas!!!
